Happy Birthday Lance!
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
Lately...
Back in the days of the never ending rain, we tried to have fun inside by building forts in our basement.
We were thrilled when Parker (Lance's best buddy in AZ) came into town and we got to play with him one morning. Luckily they just moved to St. George, so I am sure we will get to see them much more often.
Tons of swimming. Lance does such a good job with his little floaties.
(I am loving Lance's hair btw. I am so happy I didn't cut it. I love the cute wings. You would think once I found out I was having a girl I would have been more likely to cut Lance's hair, since she can have the long hair, but no!)
I hit the 6 month mark and I am feeling really good. Just hoping I don't start to swell up!
We had a super fun 4th of July party at Spencer's aunt and uncles who live on the Thanksgiving Point golf course, so of course, we took some impromptu family pic's!
And of course watching the fireworks. Lance loved the "boom-booms!"
And of course, the sparklers!
We have also tried to take advantage of our pass up Millcreek Canyon. Last week we had a campfire and BBQ with the Reams.
Man we love the summer. Spence got sick of his long curls (tear!) and buzzed his head, so as soon as I take a picture of him I'll have to upload it. Well that's about the last month in a nutshell.

This is the place!
Lance at the Indian village where he made an arrowhead necklace.
Yep, Lance cried when it came time for the pony ride. Oh wait, not when he got on or when he was riding around (he was in absolute Heaven), but when he had to get off, he was bawling. He kept saying "more neighs, more neighs!"
Ultimate Bag Lady!
We went for a walk around our neighborhood and ended up walking up to the Smith's above our house to look at deals on toys for Lance's birthday. Well, my husband being the cereal fanatic he is, freaked when he saw 24oz boxes of cereal, that are regularly priced at $5.50 were on sale for $1.99. He insisted on buying 12 boxes. He said they make great food storage! Well, I am all for a great deal, the only problem being, we only had our jogging stroller, and about a mile and a bit walk down hill!
Well, we managed - of course along the way, we got some very strange stares and even an offer from a couple in our ward to do a drop off at our house! But we managed to get home with all of our cereal and no accidents.
So, I present to you - The Ultimate Bag Lady!!!

6 years!
- waking up, getting ready and working out (speen only for the work out!)
- I went to a surprise shower while Spence and Lance went grocery shopping
- Taking Lance to the zoo
- Doing all the yard work while Lance took a nap
- exchanging gifts
- dropping Lance off at my mom's for a sleepover
- 4:28 tee time - walking 9 holes
- 7:00 sealings at the Temple
- Dinner on the patio at Market Street
- 9:50 movie!
Needless to say, we were EXHAUSTED by the time we got home. But, it was really, really fun to have a fun day together and a night out on the town!
Being married to Spence these last 6 years have been a lot of fun! We spoke in church the other week and I will relay part of the introduction I gave about Spence and I that sums up some of the things we have been up to in the past 6 years. (obviously for humor some of things were slightly exaggerated! ;) )
- 9 wards = 9 different homes (owned 2 homes, 1 of which was one of the worst financial disasters of our marriage to date!)
- 4 different states (Utah, California, Arizona, Washington)
So throughout these 9 homes and 4 states:
I have taken 864,432 pictures
Spencer has eaten 22,641 bowls of cereal
16,798 is the number of times we have said to our selves “how did we luck out with the world’s best child!”
Spencer’s sang 14,622 songs whether it be in his band or at church or to family and friends
I have held the record for water skiing around the lake 2,763 times w/out letting go ALL while wearing a shower cap on my head so that my hair would not get wet!
Spencer has played 344 rounds of golf
We have visited 26 countries
Hiked 18 mountains
Between the two of us we have had 10 jobs – ranging from selling fruit to hippies down at
We have had 7 cars
Married for 6 years
Had 3 degrees between the two of us – most recent being Spencer’s MBA from Thunderbird in Decembers
11/2 children – a little boy Lance who turns 2 next month and a little girl due in October.
Yeah that was the cheesey intro I did for our ward, but I thought I would post it on the blog, because it does sum up a bunch of things we have done the past 6 years. We are kinda crazy, but we like it that way!
Love ya Speenie, Happy Anniversary!

I am experiencing De Javu!
Average monthly temperature for June in the state of Washington, City of Tacoma: 59.5 degrees
Average monthly temperature for June in the state of Utah, City of Salt Lake: 82 degrees
DE JAVU: I swear it is June 2008. We are living in Tacoma, WA and freezing our booties off every day and running our heat at full blast. Spence is coming home from running in the mornings drenched from head to toe after running 5 miles in 50 degree weather. We are wearing long pants, and hooded sweat shirts every day. Lance doesn't leave the house with out his rain jacket and beanie on...
Beautiful, but BUUUURRRRR!!!!
Yes, this is what we looked like on our evening walks mid-june!
1st family picture we took when we got to tacoma last summer. It was a long, cold June. Luckily July, August, and September more than make up for the june coldness. Oh wait, I am back to reality, and I am actually in Utah, where is feels like cold Tacoma. The only difference is the average in Tacoma is 59 degrees in June, so it can be expected. The average in Utah is 82 freaking degrees... TEAR, TEAR, TEAR!!! I swear this has been the year of never ending winter and freezingness (especially after having moved here in December from AZ's enjoyable 80 degree winter). And my bitterness even increased once I looked up the 10 day forecast, and yes, what does it show - scattered thunderstorms for the next 10 days! BOO...
"oh mr sun, sun, mr golden sun, PLEASE shine down on me!"

So after complaining to the Hubs yesterday, he oh so kindly reminded me about the talk I am giving in church this coming Sunday which partly focuses on attitude! Oh wait, maybe I should practice what I preach. So in that spirit, I will leave you with a positive comment. I am sure this rain will be wonderful for my garden! ;)
Advertising has its perks!!!

He called me at lunch today to tell me that they chose two people from his work to be extras in the movie they are filming. When I asked him how they chose who would be in the movie, he said, "well, they went through and chose the two most attractive guys at the office, and so naturally I was chosen!" Duh, why did I even ask! So, today Spence will make his film debut.
Ok, honestly... they are filming a portion of the movie at his work and he and the other dude's desk happen to be right next to the spot they are filming, so that is why they were chosen as extras. HOWEVER, if it was based on looks, I am sure he would have been chosen regardless! ;) Love ya babe!
